The Shard Section

The shard was one of the most ambitious projects of the london south bank regeneration and since its inauguration in july 2012 it has become one of the most recognisable and iconic buildings of the london skyline.

Also known as the shard the recently opened london bridge tower designed by renzo piano is the centrepiece of the redevelopment of the area around london bridge station one of london s key transport nodes whose trains busses and underground rail lines carry 200 thousand passengers a day. A vertical city where people could live work and relax. Standing at 309 6 m 1 016 ft high the shard is amongst the 100 tallest buildings in the world.
The 10x10 concept divides a section of the city up into a 10 by 10 square grid with each participating architect assigned a section of the grid where they must find inspiration for an artwork. On saturday 28th march 2020 at 8 30pm the shard will switch off the lights in the spire for one hour in support wwf s earth hour. The shard was conceived as a building with multiple uses.
The shard is proud to support earth hour 2020. The shard comprises 26 floors of high specification office space three floors of restaurants the 19 floor five star shangri la hotel 13 floors of residential apartments and london s highest public viewing gallery.
