Colon Sections

The majority of water absorption takes place here and any salts required by the body are also absorbed.
Colon sections. Sometimes people use the word colon to refer to the whole large intestine. There are four parts to the colon. The ascending colonincluding the cecumand appendix the transverse colonincluding the colic flexuresand transverse mesocolon the descending colon the sigmoid colon the s shaped region of the large intestine the rectum.
The cecum the ascending colon the transverse colon the descending colon and the sigmoid colon. The rest of the colon is divided into four parts. The descending colon travels down the left abdomen.
The large bowel is also known as the large intestine or the colon. Its function is to reabsorb fluids and process waste products from the body and prepare for its elimination. The sigmoid colon is a short curving of the colon just before the rectum.
Sections of the colon are. The colon consists of five sections. The ascending colon travels up the right side of the abdomen.
How does the colon work. The transverse colon runs across the abdomen. As one of the parts of the large intestine the colon can be the main section of the large intestine.
